FINALLY! She's a runner!

Hot on the heels of Tombo I got my bike on the road today after over 3 years of heartache and headscratching!!!!

Its the raddest thing ever in the world, I'm totally smitten with it now its been away from the side of my house. I got it all sorted and on the road this afternoon. Loads of little bits to iron out - I haven't tightened the head bearings being on major one, haha!

its still not running 100%, it gets to about 1/3 throttle then bogs down, its ok for pootling around town, but not performing like it should. Its to be expected with the stock jetting in the carbs and the pipes.

Tombo has more patience for reading up on these things - he's suggesting that I should increase the main jet size???

Life changes

This years has been pretty manic; work, marriage, honeymoon etc

Well it looks like I'm battening the hatches, I've a little baby on the way!

I've been threatening it for quite a while now, but I've finally decided to import a pan. It's a fairly stock 1960 duo glide.

Currently near Detroit, should be here in a couple of months...

Swallows and amazons

Had a great weekend in the lakes for my birthday with the wife. Puts it all in perspective. Family comes first and all that....

I have parted with a few projectsin the past few weeks, but treated myself to something I've been after for years. It's a 1969 volvo amazon, 2 litre engine, 4 speed box with overdrive!

XS650 Morris Mag first run

Made the cables up early doors this morning, and played round with the bike. just over half throttle and full choke and the air filters off and it has running like this....

struggling on the right hand cylinder again, and lumpy as fuck....

had a chat with Shaun who has been having simular problems, so we decided it should try it on stock carbs to see if its a carburation issue... sure enough, it runs a hell of a lot better on a set of stock carbs.....

I think the stock carbs will be staying on it, and i'll just deal with setting them up - the VM34's will probably give better performance when dialed in properly, but for now I just want it riding.

good little day

Not a bad little day today, Some work this morning, then finally got my mitts on the mag for my xs650. I'm lacking the HT connector leads for into thee mag, so i'll be hunting for them tomorrow.

Saw this lovely old Volvo amazon at the old bike shop. I bloody love these things, been after one for a while. I gave the guy my numbers in case he wanted to sell. I'd happily find some garage space for it!

Modified an old clutch from a lawnmower for the pint pot. Welded a sprocket on the outside of the clutch housing so I can transfer the power to the rear wheel. I think this project will be on the back burner until the relic is running now.
