Megas showed up for the scrambler today.

They look ace! Can't wait to get this running!

Tank Troubles

Picked up nitro mores on the way back- they have changed it now, it's like swafega now, green and shit!

Absolute waste of time, after 20 mins it had done absolutely jeff all! The old stuff I used on the bottom had the paint of in 2 mins flat....

Anyways....

I spoke to Toddy on the making of the tank. Recommendation was to cut the whole tunnel out, blank off then cut a new tunnel in.



Took my time with a skitter disk and cut as close to the seam as possible.

With the nitro ores having no impact I cleaned off the paint with a quick tickle with the angle grinder with a shagged flapper disk to take the worst off but not eat the metal.

After that it was a die grinder with a scotch pad attachment on it to clean it all off...


Made a paper template of the metal needed





That was then cut out of steel, the blackening cleaned off and tacking into place started...



Started just tacking, and then beating the seams together to get it as close a fit as possible.

I find tacking together tanks using a TIG bloody hard work on my own. Could really do with either another set of arms, or someone holding the tank together. No matter how good a fit I seem to get the heat from the tacks warps things slightly. 

What a palaver.

My mask was also playing up, it seems to be going too dark, so need to play around with it before I do all the seams properly...

Next job on the scrambler is to sort the tank out. needs to be re-tunneled to fit the XS frame. Hoping to get this on its wheel in the next couple of days.

Well thats me and the Mrs back from our hols over stateside in NYC! bloody knackered, and spent all my parts money - but now its time to get the head down and work on the bikes for the summer! First up - service the Evo.

Chopper trials riding

I had a big idea to put the chop at the side of the house for a week or so. Now - ive just learned that steps and rigid harley chops dont go together that well.

I always forget how low and heavy it is! With enough noise, grunting and swearing from me it went in (relatively) easily.

Cant see many thieves that could be bothered with getting it out of there - it wont be in a hurry in any case!

Holy smokes Batman!

Finally got the drilling done for the disc for the street scrambler last night. This claimed the life of my pillar drill motor, but I've bought a new more powerful drill now.

Let's just say we bonded together last night, 3 hours it bloody took. The secret is plenty of cutting fluid!

I guess I'm not the only one that loves nothing more than a good hunt on ebay, bargains are few and far between, and more often than not I'm getting out bid on what I would pay for parts.

every now and again you get a nice little bit turn up that you win. well ive just got a switch unit - not sure if its Indian or Harley - or if its a repop or what, but its a lovely little switch for wither the custom 45 or the Indian....
